BSA Applauds Munich Security Council’s Tech Accord to Combat Deceptive Use of AI in 2024 Elections
WASHINGTON – At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are at the forefront of public discourse, more than 40 countries will exercise their right to vote in public elections this year. Today during the Munich Security Conference, companies committed to strengthening election integrity by signing the Deceptive AI Election Content Accord. BSA | The Software Alliance Senior Vice President of Global Policy Aaron Cooper issued the following statement:
“The Accord to combat deceptive uses of AI in the coming elections demonstrates an important, private-sector commitment to take action against the misuse of AI. While bad actors will try to use AI to manipulate the public, the Accord also recognizes that responsible AI and other digital tools can be part of the solution.
Protecting public elections and electoral processes from bad actors is a shared responsibility. We applaud companies for their commitment to address deepfakes and foster trust as we approach elections around the world.”
