BSA Provides Comments on NIST Guidance Documents on AI
Inside Cybersecurity
By Charlie Mitchell
BSA | The Software Alliance, in comments on four National Institute of Standards and Technology guidance documents on artificial intelligence, points to its own framework for safe and secure AI while urging support for industry tools and calling for policies that back “full legal use of data to train AI systems.
“BSA’s views are informed by our experience working with member companies to develop the BSA Framework to Build Trust in AI, a risk management framework we published almost three years ago to help companies mitigate the potential for unintended bias in AI systems,” BSA says in its NIST filing.
“Built on a vast body of research and informed by the experience of leading AI developers, the BSA Framework outlines a lifecycle-based approach for performing impact assessments and highlights corresponding best practices. Our experience on these issues informs our recommendations outlined below,” BSA says.
