Dana Linker Steele serves as BSA’s General Counsel. In this role, she leads BSA’s compliance and enforcement programs around the globe, actively supports BSA’s growth and member services, and handles all legal and compliance-related matters for the organization.

Prior to joining BSA, Steele spent 18 years at Autodesk, a BSA member company. At Autodesk, she directed a global legal team handling Autodesk’s license-compliance activities, and provided legal support to the Global Renewals and America’s Sales teams. She also oversaw public-sector sales and procurement. Before Autodesk, Steele spent 10 years at Latham & Watkins in the San Francisco office, handling antitrust, securities, intellectual property, and environmental liability cases, among others.

Steele splits her time between the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. She is a native of San Francisco and holds a BA in Political Science from UCLA and a JD from University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law).
