Tommy Ross Joins BSA | The Software Alliance to Focus on Privacy and Security Policy
WASHINGTON — May 1, 2017 — BSA | The Software Alliance today announced Tommy Ross has joined BSA as Senior Director, Policy, in BSA’s Washington, DC office. In this role, Ross will develop and advocate on a range of policy issues central to the software industry, with an emphasis on privacy and security.
“Tommy has earned tremendous respect on Capitol Hill and in the Intelligence Community for his leadership and insight on global cybersecurity issues,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “His experience both on the Hill and in the Administration will continue the growth and depth of BSA’s policy work on issues that are core to the development of new software tools and services, from cloud computing to data analytics to AI solutions.”

Prior to joining BSA, Ross was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Cooperation at the Department of Defense, where he led major reform of the Department’s security cooperation enterprise. Ross has also served as Senior Advisor for Defense and Intelligence for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and ex officio staff member to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Tommy previously served Representative David Price as a Legislative Assistant and later Legislative Director, and was a Policy Analyst for the Senate Democratic Policy Committee. Ross is a graduate of Davidson College and holds an M.A. from Union Theological Seminary.
