Industry Calls on Commerce Dept. To Develop More Targeted Approach for Reviews of Foreign ICTS Transactions
Inside Cybersecurity, November 30, 2021
By Sara Friedman
Industry groups are supportive of the Commerce Department’s revised process for foreign transaction reviews targeted at the information and communications technology and services sector, but remain concerned over its implementation and potential impact.
Henry Young of BSA-The Software Alliance said the proposed rule shows “a willingness” from Commerce to work with industry, but he noted the NPRM does not narrow the scope of the January interim final rule.
“BSA and our members care about security,” Young told Inside Cybersecurity, adding the foreign transaction rulemaking “is something we want to engage on and make sure it works.”
