BSA Welcomes EU-US Data Deal Progress, Encourages Swift Conclusion
Brussels, Washington – March 25, 2022 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the EU-US data transfer agreement announced today by the European Commission and the United States:
“Moving data freely and securely across the Atlantic is critical to businesses of all sizes and in all industry sectors,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA. “Today’s announcement will help restore trust, provide legal certainty, and support the digital transformation of thousands of businesses in Europe and the United States.”
BSA encourages the EU and the United States to swiftly bring the new agreement into force. A transatlantic deal ensures that data flowing from Europe to the United States is subject to strengthened privacy standards following the Court of Justice of the European Union’s Schrems II decision.
“Brussels and Washington are sending a message to the rest of the world that a strong transatlantic agreement will help increase trust in the responsible movement of data across borders,” said Espinel.
