BSA Senior Director of Policy Henry Young Comments on NIST Generative AI Profile
Inside Cybersecurity
By Sara Friedman
Two industry groups in the technology space say they are encouraged by the National Institute of Standards and Technology's recent generative artificial intelligence profile for the agency's Secure Software Development Framework and want the agency to take a risk-based approach as it continues to fulfill requirements under the 2023 AI executive order.
"NIST's recently published Secure Software Development Practices for Generative AI is another example of public-private partnerships driving improved cybersecurity. Among the many benefits of AI, one primary advantage is that AI can help organizations develop more secure code," Henry Young, BSA | The Software Alliance's senior director of policy, told Inside Cybersecurity in a statement.
"This document helps stakeholders take a risk-based approach to applicable models, and we look forward to continued collaboration with NIST to help equip AI and cybersecurity stakeholders with recommended approaches that match the fast pace of technological innovation," Young said.
