BSA Urges Policymakers to Protect Americans' Data Without the Use of Data Transfer Restrictions Following DOJ Ruling
Inside AI Policy
By Charlie Mitchell
“BSA appreciates efforts to protect Americans’ sensitive personal data, and the Justice Department’s final rule on this matter underscores the importance of this issue,” a BSA spokesman told Inside AI Policy.
“However, introducing data transfer restrictions to achieve this goal risks normalizing practices that could hinder the responsible global movement of information and disrupt businesses, governments, and consumers who rely on secure, cross-border data flows for innovation, economic growth, and essential services,” the spokesman said.
“Policymakers should pursue alternative approaches that safeguard privacy without undermining the critical role of data transfers in today’s interconnected world,” according to the BSA spokesman.
