BSA | The Software Alliance Commends Introduction of Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2015
WASHINGTON — July 29, 2015 —BSA | The Software Alliance applauds Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Christopher Coons (D-Del.), and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), as well as Reps. Doug Collins (R-Ga) and Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) and their cosponsors, for their continuing efforts on bipartisan legislation to combat the theft of trade secrets. BSA today co-signed letters to members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees expressing support for the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2015.
“I commend the much-needed efforts of these Congressional leaders on this issue for introducing the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2015. The theft of trade secrets undermines American companies by stealing their hard-earned research and development, and is a serious threat to the innovation economy,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “This legislation will create a uniform federal standard with a well-balanced private right of action that allows trade secret owners to take action when their intellectual property is misappropriated. BSA and its member companies look forward to working with the House and Senate to pass meaningful trade secrets legislation this Congress.”
