BSA Commends Release of Cyberspace Solarium Commission Report
WASHINGTON – March 11, 2020 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes today’s release of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission report. The report’s recommendations of new strategies to secure the United States against an increasingly diverse and sophisticated series of cybersecurity threats represent a compelling and much-needed roadmap toward bipartisan solutions to longstanding challenges.
“The Cyberspace Solarium Commission has produced serious, forward-leaning recommendations that would, collectively, help the United States Government and US critical infrastructure better defend against advanced cyber threats. Not everyone will like every recommendation the Commission produced, but our hope is that the report will create a sense of urgency for Congress to take meaningful, bipartisan action in this arena,” said Tommy Ross, Senior Director, Policy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “In particular, the Commission rightly identifies the need to incentivize greater attention to security in the marketplace. As we work to implement the BSA Framework for Secure Software, BSA strongly supports the development of new tools to enhance trust in the digital economy and help software developers compete to provide the most secure products."
