BSA on National Cyber Strategy Implementation Plan
Implementation should engage industry, focus on incentives for secure software
WASHINGTON – Following the release of the National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan today, Henry Young, Director of Policy at BSA | The Software Alliance, offered the following statement:
“The National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan is a welcome step forward in ensuring a secure and resilient digital ecosystem.
The implementation plan will be most effective if it ensures that industry stakeholders responsible for developing cybersecurity technologies have a seat at the table and focuses on providing a safe harbor for those organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to using best practices for secure software development.
Enterprise software companies take seriously their responsibilities to customers and the public, and continuously work to improve the security of their products to meet new threats. BSA and the enterprise software community stand ready to help achieve our shared goal of improved cybersecurity and a resilient digital ecosystem.”
Background: BSA hosted an event with the ONCD in conjunction with the release of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, where government officials emphasized the importance of industry guidance for a successful implementation. The National Cybersecurity Strategy incorporates the solutions offered by BSA as part of its 2023 Global Cyber Agenda.
