Virtual Event: EU Data Regulation – What Canadian Lawyers Need to Know About the GDPR and the Multiverse of EU Data Rules
Speaker: Irma Gudziunaite, Director, Policy – EMEA, BSA | The Software Alliance
On February 8, the Canada EU Trade and Investment Association (CEUTIA) is hosting the first European Union Law for Canadian Legal Practitioners Conference.
As a global regulatory power, the EU creates rules and standards that affect businesses around the world, including Canada. From rules relating to data protection to legislation affecting supply chain due diligence, EU laws are increasingly becoming the gold standard internationally.
Yet, despite its importance, EU law often remains a mystery for Canadian lawyers and legal practitioners. This virtual summit is specifically aimed at providing Canadian legal practitioners with insight into key and emerging EU legal and regulatory developments affecting Canadian businesses.
The summit’s opening panel, “EU Data Regulation – What Canadian Lawyers Need to Know About the GDPR and the Multiverse of EU Data Rules,” features:
- Chantal Bernier, co-Chair, Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Group, Dentons and former Privacy Commissioner of Canda (Ottawa);
- Thibault D'hulst, Counsel, Van Bael & Bellis (Brussels);
- Irma Gudziunaite, Director, Policy -- EMEA, BSA | The Software Alliance (Brussels); and
- Pascal Kernels, Managing Director, European Services Forum (Brussels)
