US-Japan: Advancing Shared Economic and National Security Objectives in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing
Consistent with the objectives of America's AI Action Plan, and building on the success of the prior administrations of Donald Trump and Shinzo Abe in negotiating the US-Japan Digital Trade Agreement, the Trump and Takaichi administrations’ technology agreement should reinforce US and Japanese leadership in secure AI and quantum computing development and deployment; encourage interoperable risk-based technology governance approaches; and promote economic growth. Potential deliverables are described below.
