The article started out with exploring the notion that India’s Justice Srikrishna committee’s proposed Data Protection Bill could have positive implications and growth potential for larger companies such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and Google since they have established servers in India and have been aggressively expanding operations. The industry has criticised the move. BSA Country Manager Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy said data localisation requirements were contrary to the goals of promoting a Digital India, as global data transfers were critical to cloud computing and data analytics.
