Following an interview with BSA Director, Policy for APAC, Darryn Lim, this article appeared on iTWire in light of the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment (Assistance and Access) Bill 2018 that was introduced into the lower house of Parliament by Australian Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton. The article covers BSA’s views that mandating technical approaches or weakening encryption standards (whether intentionally or not) would not only be ineffective, but, in fact, would be counter-productive to the goal of enhancing security. Following an interview with The Business Times and BSA Director, Policy for APAC, Darryn Lim, this article called for Asean to pick up the pace on digital policy. The article was published shortly after the Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Singapore to discuss how the region should press on with initiatives for the Asean Economic Community (AEC) 2025 blueprint.
