BSA Calls for Inclusion of Digital Services in US Trade Deals
Punchbowl News
By Diego Areas Munhoz
An organization representing big software companies in Washington wants the Trump administration to include digital trade provisions in the deals it says are being negotiated with several countries.
The Business Software Alliance — which represents giants like Microsoft, Adobe, OpenAI, IBM and others — said the administration should seek concessions on digital trade from countries in any bilateral agreements.
“If we’re negotiating with other countries to achieve a healthier and more sustainable relationship going forward, digital services and cross-border data should absolutely be a part of that,” said Joseph Whitlock, BSA’s senior director for policy.
