BSA Comments on US Justice Department Data Security Program
Inside Cybersecurity
By Sara Friedman
Joseph Whitlock, policy director at the Business Software Alliance, commented, "We welcome and are continuing to review the Justice Department’s implementation guidance and Frequently Asked Questions issued on April 11, 2025.”
Whitlock said, “We also appreciate the Department’s 90-day limited enforcement policy, which gives both the US private sector and the US government some time to develop the systems and controls necessary to implement this new legal framework. We urge the Department to continue to work closely with the private sector so that companies have the guidance and the time necessary to bring themselves into full compliance.”
