BSA Details How SolarWinds Charges Could Affect Businesses Ability to Root Out Cybersecurity Risks in Amicus

A federal judge on Thursday dismissed some of the central charges in a controversial SEC cyber enforcement case against software maker SolarWinds.
The ruling from district judge Paul Engelmayer marks a significant win not just for the Texas-based IT management firm but also for U.S. cybersecurity, according to several D.C. cyber policy experts. In February, 21 former government officials and BSA | The Software Alliance warned that charges could have a “chilling effect” that would make businesses ineffective at rooting out cybersecurity risks.
