BSA Offers AI Policy Priorities for Trump Administration
Inside AI Policy
By Rick Weber
BSA | The Software Alliance wants the incoming Trump administration to back legislation requiring AI developers to implement risk management programs for high-risk uses of the technology, as part of a wide-ranging package of tech policy recommendations.
The software industry’s priority list also urges the new administration to “update” an Office of Management and Budget memo on implementing President Biden’s executive order on artificial intelligence, by making it easier for federal agencies to adopt the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s AI risk management framework.
“To maintain US leadership in the economic and national security realms associated with AI, the United States must cultivate a policy environment that harnesses and promotes AI innovation,” the software industry group says in its 15-page plan released Nov. 14.
