BSA Outlines Proposals for OMB on Federal AI Placement
Inside AI Policy
By Rick Weber
“You have an important opportunity to promote continued American leadership in AI by streamlining the US government’s process for both procuring and using AI systems,” the Business Software Alliance writes in a March 12 letter to OMB Director Russell Vought.
Specifically, the industry group is asking Vought, a key architect of the Trump administration agenda, to revise OMB memos issued last year on the acquisition of AI. The group says its proposals are consistent with Trump’s executive order issued Jan. 23 on removing “barriers” to US AI leadership.
“Accelerating the government’s AI adoption, including by implementing robust governance measures, would allow the government to lead by example and spur broader AI adoption, boosting efficiencies across industries and generating significant economic growth, while at the same time improving the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations and services,” the BSA letter says.
