The Business Software Alliance’s Managing Director Kate Goodloe, who is testifying at today’s hearing, warned of a “worst-case scenario” where 50 states have conflicting requirements for businesses. Adding to chaos, states are continuing to update and amend their laws, meaning once-similar laws are diverging. “As states continue to amend, expand and update their existing privacy laws, it will create more variation among the state laws,” Goodloe said in a copy of her opening statement provided to MT.
