House, Senate Lawmakers Release Discussion Draft of Bipartisan Data Privacy Legislation Proposal
Inside Cybersecurity, June 16
BSA | The Software Association’s Craig Albright raised concerns over how the bill approaches lawsuits. “Strong, comprehensive federal privacy law is a top priority for BSA and is only possible through bipartisan effort in Congress.” He said, “We have concerns about whether the bill could result in a new wave of nuisance lawsuits and look forward to reviewing the bill further. Unfortunately, it is clear this draft isn’t workable in its current form and needs significant improvement to ensure it actually protects consumer privacy in practice.”
