BSA Commends Decision to Reappoint USPTO Director Michelle Lee
WASHINGTON – January 25, 2017 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the Trump Administration’s decision to retain Michelle Lee as Director of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She understands the value of inventions and innovation, and her passion for the patent system has energized the USPTO. Software accounts for 17.2 percent of all domestic business R&D in the US; ensuring effective intellectual property protections encourages the R&D that drives US innovation. Director Lee’s background gives her a valuable perspective on issues across the industry, and she is committed to diversity in tech. Director Lee has done a remarkable job leading the office, and has been thoughtful and fair on challenging issues. BSA looks forward to continuing its work with the USPTO under her leadership.
