BSA Commends Digital Trade Provisions in US-Malaysia Agreement
WASHINGTON — Business Software Alliance Senior Vice President of Global Policy Aaron Cooper issued the following statement commending the United States and Malaysia for their progress on digital trade under a new framework agreement.
"BSA commends the governments of United States and Malaysia for achieving meaningful accomplishments on digital trade as part of their broader framework trade agreement announced this weekend. The agreement's forward-leaning provisions on cross-border data flows, source code protections, and cybersecurity collaboration reinforce the principles of open digital markets and non-discriminatory treatment of US digital services. BSA hopes this agreement can provide a valuable model for expanding digital trade commitments with other regional partners, as well as a clear path forward for building alignment on trusted tech governance."
