BSA Commends Progress on USMCA Talks, Urges Congressional Action

WASHINGTON – December 10, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the announcement of a deal between the Office of the US Trade Representative and House of Representatives to move forward on the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). BSA urges Congress to move swiftly to implement the USMCA. The USMCA’s digital trade and intellectual property rules are critical to driving economic growth, creating new jobs, and fostering innovation in America.

“Today’s announcement is welcome news to the software industry, and businesses of all sizes across the economy who rely on data to succeed and grow,” said Craig Albright, Vice President, Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “The software that powers our daily lives depends on the rapid and seamless movement of data across borders. The USMCA establishes a gold standard for rules on digital trade. Congressional action on the USMCA is critical to securing American leadership in the digital economy into the future.”
