BSA: EU Digital Strategy Right to Highlight Openness and Trade

BRUSSELS – The Business Software Alliance (BSA) released the following statement in response to the publication of the European Commission’s International Digital Strategy, welcoming the EU's commitment to openness, collaboration with trusted partners, and a strong focus on digital trade cooperation.

“BSA has long supported digital policies that recognize the value of openness and trusted international cooperation. In an interconnected digital economy, innovation depends on partnerships with countries that share common values and objectives. The European Commission’s strategy reflects this understanding, with a strong commitment to working with like-minded partners to shape a secure and collaborative global digital environment.

The strategy’s focus on removing unjustified barriers to digital trade and safeguarding cross-border data flows is equally important. The enterprise software industry relies on legal certainty, interoperability, and the ability to transfer data across jurisdictions securely. These are essential conditions for competitiveness, trust, and long-term digital growth.”

BSA will continue to work with EU policymakers and global partners to advance a digital ecosystem that supports innovation, protects security, and enables long-term economic growth.
