BSA Looking Forward to Second Positive Annual Review of the Privacy Shield
BRUSSELS, 18 October 2018 — As EU and US officials gather in Brussels this week for the second annual review of the Privacy Shield, BSA | The Software Alliance is looking forward to a positive outcome and constructive discussions that will allow the successful continuation of this EU-US data transfer mechanism. Thomas Boué, BSA Director General, Policy – EMEA, said:
“In today’s economy, it is vital that the transfer of data between the EU and the United States remains smooth and secure, and safeguards privacy principles. The Privacy Shield provides such safeguards. We look forward to a second positive joint review this week that will ensure the continuation of the much-needed legal certainty for business. The Privacy Shield is a living mechanism that we believe is working well; this week’s review by the EU and the United States should determine if and how it can be improved further. We are confident that the desire to ensure privacy and innovation remains strong from both sides of the Atlantic and it will make the Privacy Shield successful.”
