BSA: NTIA Report Recognizes Role of Open-Source AI
WASHINGTON – BSA Senior Vice President of Global Policy Aaron Cooper issued the following statement regarding the NTIA’s report on open model weights:
“BSA welcomes NTIA's report on open model weights, which ultimately recognized that open-source AI models play an important role in a flourishing AI ecosystem. As BSA made clear in its initial filing to NTIA, open foundation models can help democratize AI, increase competition, and improve transparency and resiliency. BSA looks forward to working with NTIA and across the government to build trust in AI and craft policy approaches that are risk-based, leverage the benefits of both open and proprietary AI models, encourage responsible AI governance, and account for the different types of actors along the AI value chain.”
