BSA Praises House Passage of USMCA
WASHINGTON – December 19, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance applauds today’s passage of implementing legislation for the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) by the House of Representatives. The software industry, which supports 14.4 million US jobs, depends upon USMCA passage to protect the free flow of data across borders and accelerate economic growth.
“The USMCA contains the strongest digital trade chapter of any US free trade agreement,” said Craig Albright, Vice President, Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “The USMCA’s gold-standard digital trade and intellectual property provisions set a strong precedent for future trade agreements and are key to promoting America’s digital leadership. BSA commends this step forward by the House and urges the Senate to act quickly to implement the USMCA.”
