WASHINGTON – February 14, 2020 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement on today’s Senate passage of the Washington Privacy Act.
“We’re pleased the Washington Senate has passed a comprehensive privacy bill. The conversation in Washington state is an important one to both consumers and businesses. We hope these discussions will ultimately help create a national standard that provides consumers with the strong, clear data privacy protections they deserve,” said Tom Foulkes, Senior Director, State Advocacy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “We applaud Washington state lawmakers for their work to establish these protections. We look forward to continuing the valuable conversation with policymakers to create a consistent privacy standard that gives consumers confidence in how their data is used and businesses clarity in their obligations to keep data private and secure.”
