BSA Welcomes AI Act Agreement, Urges Balanced Implementation
BSA: Technical details key to AI Act
BRUSSELS – BSA | The Software Alliance on Saturday issued the following statement congratulating EU leaders for reaching a political agreement on the AI Act, and emphasizing the importance of additional technical work in realizing the Act’s risk-based approach. Matteo Quattrocchi, BSA director of policy for EMEA, said:
“BSA congratulates the EU Institutions on the political agreement on the AI Act announced Friday. AI uptake in Europe is going to be instrumental to growth and innovation, and ensuring a balanced AI legislative framework that promotes responsible technology and protects citizens’ rights is of the utmost importance. The AI Act will still require additional work to finalize the many technical aspects that will implement the political agreement announced this week. Those technical details will be fundamental for how AI is developed and deployed in the EU. BSA looks forward to continuing to work with the EU Institutions on implementing a risk-based approach to responsible AI.”
For background, BSA outlined its priorities for trilogue negotiations in a position paper earlier this fall.
