BSA Welcomes Markup of Cyber Incident Reporting Act
WASHINGTON – October 6, 2021 – BSA | The Software Alliance applauds Chairman Peters and Ranking Member Portman for introducing S. 2875, the Cyber Incident Reporting Act, and encourages the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee to report the legislation favorably.
“Industry leaders—including BSA and our members—have been working alongside government to improve the security of the digital ecosystem. Incident reporting can be part of strengthening cybersecurity, but legislation on the issue must be targeted so that it can be implemented effectively,” said Henry Young, Director, Policy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “We’re pleased that Chairman Peters and Ranking Member Portman have begun the process of creating an incident reporting bill. BSA looks forward to working with the Committee and the Senate to ensure that any final legislation meaningfully advances our shared goal of a more secure future.”
