Twilio Joins BSA | The Software Alliance
WASHINGTON – December 3, 2018 – BSA | The Software Alliance today announced that Twilio has become its newest global member. Karyn Smith, General Counsel at Twilio, will also join BSA’s Board of Directors.
Founded in 2008, San Francisco-based Twilio helps tens of thousands of organizations, from small businesses to the world’s largest multinational companies, unlock the magic of communications. Twilio’s software platform has virtualized the world’s telecommunications infrastructure, allowing companies from industries like financial services, manufacturing, retail, and many more to use voice, messaging, and video to reinvent how they engage with their customers.
“We’re excited to welcome Twilio to BSA,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “Every sector of the global economy relies on software. Twilio’s communications tools – which are used by transportation, finance, cybersecurity, and other industries – are an example of software’s far-reaching benefits. We look forward to working with Twilio to advocate before governments around the world on issues that impact software, including data privacy, security, and artificial intelligence.”
