Canada: BSA Comments on Canada Bill C-22

BSA recommends amending Bill C-22 to remove or significantly revise Part 2 to protect encryption and prevent systemic vulnerabilities, while strengthening safeguards on law enforcement access to data. BSA also urges higher legal thresholds, limits and judicial oversight for non-disclosure orders, and requirements to seek data from owners and obtain warrants where appropriate. BSA further calls for mechanisms to address conflicts of international law, limit extraterritorial access, and provide companies sufficient time to respond to legal demands.
