EU: BSA Joins Industry Statement on Digital Omnibus Negotiations

BSA joined a broad coalition of industry associations in a joint statement urging EU Member States and policymakers not to weaken the ambition of the Digital Omnibus proposal during Council negotiations. The statement calls for meaningful simplification of overlapping EU digital rules on data, ePrivacy, and cybersecurity, while warning that recent compromise texts risk increasing fragmentation, regulatory burden, and legal uncertainty. The coalition urges policymakers to preserve key GDPR simplifications, support an EU-level single-entry point for cyber incident reporting, and ensure reforms remain innovation-friendly and supportive of Europe’s competitiveness.
