EU: BSA Submission to the EC Consultation on Transparency Requirements for Certain AI Systems (Art. 50 of the AI Act)

In its response, BSA calls for greater clarity on key definitions — including “synthetic text,” “emotion recognition systems,” and “biometric categorisation systems” — and encourages the Commission to confirm that simple disclosures at the start of AI interactions meet legal requirements. BSA also urges policymakers to allow flexible, channel-appropriate technical solutions for marking AI-generated content, rather than imposing rigid, one-size-fits-all rules, and to recognise the current limitations of marking and detection technologies. These recommendations aim to support the effective and innovation-friendly implementation of the EU AI Act and the responsible adoption of AI across Europe.
