EU: Joint Industry Statement on Transparency Obligations Under Article 50 of the AI Act

BSA joined an industry statement calling for risk-based and proportionate guidelines for the AI Act’s transparency requirements. The statement welcomes the European Commission’s efforts to clarify Article 50 of the AI Act but urges the AI Office to ensure that the final Guidelines and Code of Practice remain aligned with the legislation, are technically feasible, and do not create disproportionate or unworkable obligations. It calls for greater legal certainty, clearer definitions, a balanced approach to deepfake disclosure and content marking, and the preservation of the voluntary nature of the Code of Practice to support innovation while ensuring effective implementation of the AI Act.
