US: BSA Letter Regarding Maine's LD 1822

BSA recommends revising LD 1822 to ensure companies can responsibly process personal data to improve and develop products in alignment with consumer expectations. BSA proposes amending Section 9613.2 to explicitly permit internal data use for product enhancement and development, and adjusting Section 9609.1(6) to avoid delays in using subprocessors by favoring notification over objection rights. It also urges clarifying that merely using an algorithm does not trigger a data protection assessment under Section 9611.2.
