US-Japan: Advancing a US-Japan Digital and Economic Security Agreement

BSA recommends that the US and Japan negotiate a Digital and Economic Security Agreement (DESA) to strengthen collaboration in AI, quantum technologies, data governance, and cybersecurity. The proposed agreement should establish a bilateral council, align standards and regulations, enhance secure data flows, and address technology-related trade barriers. BSA urges the integration of existing US-Japan Digital Trade Agreement provisions and advocates for synchronized security and export control measures.
