BSA Comments on NIST Implementation of Biden EO

BSA | The Software Alliance and other stakeholders are urging the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) to create common rules with foreign governments.

Companies and industry groups — including IBM and BSA | The Software Alliance — argued in their comments that aspects of the NIST AI RMF should be maintained in any new standards issued by the agency and advocated as the global standard, in part because they were developed with heavy industry input. The tech industry has been pushing U.S. policymakers to work with governments across the globe to develop consistent standards and regulations for AI, warning that inconsistent definitions and rules could hinder innovation.
