BSA | The Software Alliance Senior Vice President of US Government Relations Craig Albright calls for federal privacy and artificial intelligence legislation ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address.
The tech industry wants to see Biden reup his call for a federal privacy bill tonight, especially since 13 states have passed their own laws and at least a dozen more are considering their own bills. Craig Albright, senior vice president for U.S. government relations at BSA, said Biden needs to nudge Congress to even the playing field for the tech industry.
“Without national technology laws, the U.S. will continue its trend toward a complicated web of laws and uncertainty across the country that risks holding back the economy,” Albright said. “Biden should seize the opportunity to make this case.” TechNet and NetChoice also issued statements calling on Biden to press for privacy legislation.”
