BSA to Lead Digital Transformation Network

New initiative will provide global tech policy intelligence and convene companies across a range of sectors

WASHINGTON – February 17, 2022 – BSA | The Software Alliance today launched the Digital Transformation Network (DTN). BSA’s new subscription network will help leaders across industries stay up to date on the quickly changing tech regulatory environment and connect with technology experts and companies experiencing digital transformation.

This year, spending on digital transformation is projected to reach $1.78 trillion. Companies that invest in digital transformation early reap real benefits, growing at five times the rate of organizations that are slow to adopt new technologies. As digital transformation continues to reshape every industry, business leaders increasingly require insight into global tech policy to successfully navigate their transition.

“At BSA, we’ve said that every company is a software company for years. The recent acceleration of digital transformation has driven that point home. Digital healthcare is reshaping the way doctors treat patients, data-driven technology is helping manufacturers optimize production, and people around the world rely on software to work and learn remotely,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “Companies undertaking digital transformation may not be familiar with the world of tech policy. But the more executives rely on software to power their daily operations, the more they’re pulled into debates on AI regulation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and more. I’m excited to launch the Digital Transformation Network to help companies stay informed on these business-critical issues.”

The Digital Transformation Network currently includes 16 subscribers: Abbott, American Express, Amgen, AT&T, Citi, ExxonMobil, General Motors, IKEA, Lumen, Mastercard, Medtronic, Panasonic, RELX, United Airlines, Verizon, and Visa. As DTN subscribers, these companies will receive exclusive policy intelligence on AI, cybersecurity, data privacy, international data transfers, and workforce issues.

“Digital innovation is transforming the automotive industry. Software has expanded our options as a manufacturer, enabling innovation, advancing safety, and improving output,” said Craig Glidden, Executive Vice President, Global Public Policy, and General Counsel at General Motors. “I’m pleased that we’re able to collaborate with BSA on the Digital Transformation Network, which is a unique chance for us to receive expert analysis from the leading voice of the enterprise tech industry.”

“Across the globe, our technology is advancing inclusive growth, delivering greater choice and trust in how people pay, and helping businesses of every size be where their customers are—online and in store,” said Ambassador Richard Verma, General Counsel and Head of Global Public Policy at Mastercard. “As the world moves to a more digital economy, governments are putting guardrails in place to ensure technology is used responsibly and individuals’ rights are respected. Regulatory developments inform business decisions and BSA’s international reach and in-depth expertise will help us remain engaged.”
