India: BSA Letter to MeitY on Content Authenticity

BSA recommends that MeitY review the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2026 pertaining to Synthetic Generated Information (SGI) within 3 to 5 months and adopt flexible, technology-neutral policies that support globally recognized content authenticity tools. BSA urges policymakers to adopt role-appropriate obligations by focusing requirements on developers of AI systems generating SGI and advises against mandating visible watermarks.
