In a letter to Maroney, the Software Alliance, a trade group also known as BSA that represents the global software industry, said it had “significant concerns” with his bill. Writing to Bauer-Kahan, BSA said her bill “aligns well” with its AI framework but asked for a series of changes.

“If they are saying these are industry-friendly bills, that’s certainly news to us,” said Matthew Lenz, senior director of state advocacy at BSA.
